Faculty Grants

The Connecticut Space Grant College Consortium, a NASA supported Space
Grant Consortium, consists of Bridgeport University, Central Connecticut State University, Connecticut Colleges of Technology, Eastern Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, Southern Connecticut State University, Trinity College, the Universities of Connecticut,
Connecticut Health Center, Hartford, and New Haven, Wesleyan University and Yale University. The purpose of the Consortium is to encourage research
and education in Space/Aerospace Science and Engineering. The Consortium
will accept applications from faculty members of the Consortium member
institutions. Grant Periods may be Summer 2009, Academic Year 2009-2010,
or Calendar Year, beginning June 1, 2010.
- Research Grants - Research Collaboration Grants provide the opportunity for faculty of consortium institutions to work on novel research projects involving NASA centers or the aerospace industry. Consortium expects to make three awards of $20,000.
- Seed Research Grants - Seed Research Grants provide the opportunity for faculty of consortium institutions to start novel research programs involving NASA centers or the aerospace industry. The Consortium expects to make four awards of $6,000.
- Research Collaboration Grants - Research Collaboration Grants provide the opportunity for faculty at
two or more consortium institutions to collaborate on problems related
to the mission of NASA. The Consortium expects to make one award of $15,000
divided among the collaborating institutions of the Connecticut Space Grant Consortium. The portion allocated to
each institution will be determined by the investigators. Preference will be given to collaboration proposals which involve faculty from a Connecticut academic affiliate as well as a faculty colleague from one of the nation's other 51 space grant consortia.
- Curriculum Development or Enhancement
Grants - Curriculum development grants provide funding
for faculty of Consortium colleges to develop and/or update courses and curriculum in areas related to the
mission of NASA. The Consortium intends to make one award of $7,500.
- Travel Grants - Faculty, as well as students, of Consortium colleges, may apply for travel grants to visit NASA
sites to use their unique facilities, discuss collaborations, attend
pre-proposal briefings, or present their NASA-related work at professional
meetings. The Consortium expects to award several travel grants. Maximum funding per travel grant is $1,000.
